Brisbane Transport

For information about the bus, train and ferry services in the city call the TransLink information service on 13 1230 (24 hours, 7 days a week). You can also get information at the Queen Street Information Centre. From Brisbane Airport you can get directly to the Transit centre in the city, as well as the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.

You can also take a taxi, although they tend to work out more expensive unless travelling in a group.

Transit CentreBuses around the city operate at different times (depending upon the service), with some services operating until midnight. There are various tickets available depending upon where you want to travel. You can purchase Single, Daily, Off-Peak Daily, Weekly and Monthly tickets. Translink also offer an electronic travel card called "Go Card", which stores upto $250 allowing you to travel on TransLink bus, train and ferry services. Holders of the "Go Card" receive a discounted fare on every single journey made, with a bonus frequent user discount for more than 10 trips per week.

If you just want to travel around Brisbane city centre hop on "The Loop". This is a FREE service that operates in both directions around the City Centre, from Monday to Friday. The Loop is a convenient way to travel between locations in the city. Stops include Botanic Gardens, Central Station, City Hall, Eagle Street Pier, Government Precinct, Queen Street Mall, Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Riverside, Stamford Plaza, Wharf Street, where you will see the distinctive red signposts. The clockwise service departs QUT every 15 minutes between 7:00am and 6:00pm. The anti-clockwise service departs QUT every 15 minutes between 7:05am and 6:05pm.

To travel out to the suburbs there are a large number of bus and train services operating from Brisbane city. You can catch a train from one of the central stations including Brunswick Street Station, Central Station and Roma Street Station.

City Cat ServiceBrisbane also offers a number of ferry services including the City Cat, Inner City Ferry and Cross River Ferries, offering journeys across Brisbane River as well as along it. The City Cat travels between Apollo Road, Bretts Wharf, Bulimba, Guyatt Park (St Lucia), Hawthorne, Mowbray Park, New Farm Park, North Quay, Queensland University of Technology, Regatta (Toowong), Riverside, South Bank, Sydney Street, Uni of Qld, West End.

The Inner City Ferry travels between Dockside, Eagle Street Pier, Holman Street, North Quay, River Plaza, South Bank, Sydney Street, Thornton Street. There are three Cross River Ferry services one between Eagle Street Pier, Holman Street and Thornton Street, another between New Farm Park and Norman Park and the other between Bulimba and Teneriffe. Ferry services operate from around 5:30am - midnight.

From Brisbane city there are also train services to the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast, as well as further afield. Traveltrain operate four services from Brisbane including the Sunlander, Tilt Train, Spirit of the Outback and Westlander. The Sunlander and Tilt Train travel along the East Coast through Rockhampton and Townsville to Cairns. The Spirit of the Outback travels north to Rockhampton and then west to Longreach. The Westlander travels west from Brisbane to Charleville. For more information call 1300 131 722.
