Cycling Travel Services
Cycling around the whole of Australia would take
a long time, so it is a good idea to use other forms of transport
as well as cycling. There are some fantastic routes all over Australia,
which really allow you to see the beauty of the country, that
you can pick up in many different places around the country. Popular
places for cyclists include the Australian Alps, Flinders Ranges,
along the Great Ocean Road and the Murray River, and around Tasmania.
If you are planning to do a lot of cycling then
it is probably better to bring your own bike with you. Alternative
transport also isn't normally a problem, with most of the trains
and buses allowing bikes onboard as long as they have been dismantled.
If you just want to do a little exploring by bike, then it is
probably better just to hire a bike from a bike hire shop, in
the region where you want to explore. Remember that you must wear
a helmet when you are riding a bike, in all states.
If travelling along the east coast then you should
be able to get from town to town, although it is normally best
to carry camping equipment with you along with plenty of water.
If you don't want to travel alone, then a good idea may be to
join a bicycle tour group. These tour companies plan the routes,
accommodation and food, as well as providing vehicle support if
needed.
