Darwin Travel Information

Getting to and from Darwin's airport is fairly easy as it is only 12 km from the city centre. There is an airport shuttle bus which will drop you off or pick you up from nearly anywhere in the city. However, you must book one day in advance when travelling to the airport. Ph: 1800 358 945. Alternatively take a taxi.

Buses around the city leave from the terminal on Harry Chan Avenue, and offer different fares depending upon the zone in which you plan to travel within. The following buses go to the following places:

Bus No 4 Casuarina, Fannie Bay, Nightcliff and Rapid Creek
Bus No 5 Casuarina via Berrimah
Bus No 6 Fannie Bay, Parap and Stuart Park
Bus No 8 Palmerston via Berrimah

For travel 4km around the Central Business District you can use the 24 hour Darwin City Shuttle service offering a fixed price per journey.

To visit all of the major city sights hop on and off the Tour Tub. The buses run between 9.00am - 4.00pm with a set fare all day. Ph: 8981 5233. Galaxy Tours and Charters run a similar service, visiting a few different places, as does the Darwin Runner Shuttle Ph: 8932 5577. A similar evening tour operates on Darwin Day Tours Ph: 8981 6855 and Keetleys Ph: 1800 807 868.

You can also cruise along Darwin's Harbour onboard Darwin Hovercraft Tours leaving from Frances Bay Drive Hoverport. Ph: 8981 6855 for details of departures.
