Strathalbyn Bands Festival 2009

Overview

The Strathalbyn Bands Festival is a celebration of the traditions and roles of community bands. In 2009 the event will be staged in the beautifully restored Strathalbyn Town Hall.

Held over two consecutive Sundays it attracts 20 of South Australia's best Town Bands, Concert Bands, Stage Bands and Brass Bands in one of the biggest non-competitive band events.

The event is catered, pass-outs are available and children are admitted free. Members of the Strathalbyn Concert Band volunteer their time to undertake all tasks required of such an event.

As the host band, Strathalbyn performs the closing act each day. It has become something of a tradition for the Strathalbyn musicians to select a musical theme and costume accordingly. They then perform cameo comedy acts with the music. In somewhat of a departure this year the band has produced a series of Pythonesque video clips to be projected as it performs.
