Come and join us for an action packed day as we explore the Windjana Gorge, Tunnel Creek, Boab 'Prison Tree', Napier Range and Fitzroy River. Hotel transfers are included as well as a delicious picnic lunch.
Departing Broome at 7:00am, we head east towards the Kimberley gorges. As we travel through the remote and beautiful landscape, our guide shares stories of local history, people and the environment.
Enjoy a morning tea break at Willare Roadhouse on the mighty Fitzroy River and visit the notorious Derby 'Boab Prison Tree', a significant historical site of the West Kimberley. This tree, believed to be over 1500 years old and measuring almost 15 metres in girth, is a relic of some cultural sensitivity due to its use as a prison for local Aboriginals during the era of Kimberley pioneers.
Before long we hit the Gibb River Road, and travel towards the picturesque Napier Range. Once a Devonian reef, these mountains are over 350 million years old and home to a diverse array of animals and plants. The perfect place to experience the stunning natural beauty of an outback oasis is the 3.5km geological wonder of Windjana Gorge. Beneath gorge walls rising 90m, we search for freshwater crocodiles, local birdlife and indigenous bushtucker.
After a picnic lunch, the afternoon is spent exploring Tunnel Creek, a 750-metre cave system carved through the Napier Range, in which we discover secret caves and subterranean wildlife. It is here we also learn the legend of Jandamarra, an Aboriginal freedom fighter who used the tunnel as a hide-out in the late 1800's. A refreshing swim in an idyllic waterhole is a highlight of the day.
As sunset approaches, we visit the historical ruins of Lillimooloora Station to appreciate what life would have been like during early white settlement in the area. There is time for an optional dinner* (own expense) en route back to Broome. Then after dark, relax and enjoy a movie or spot natural savannah fires, before arriving back at your hotel at approximately 10:00pm.
Please Note: Dinner is not included but can be purchased enroute back to Broome. Allow approximately $25.00 per person.
NOTE: The 2012 - 2013 season rates are valid from the 1st April 2012 to the 31st March 2013. The 2013 - 2014 season rates commence on the 1st April 2013.

"The Windjana Gorge - Tunnel Creek Tour was brilliant – one of the best we have done!
A couple of points as comment and not criticism. (1) It is a long day and I would not advise doing another tour the next day. We were a bit tired when we got home but could have survived a second day. Some people may not. (2) I was slightly surprised we had to pay for dinner. I probably missed this in the small print. It was NOT a problem but maybe should be made clearer when booking so you don’t get complaints.
Finally the tour was made for all of us by the guide, Jason. He is a delightful helpful person and his knowledge of the area and feeling/sympathy for it is fantastic. His commentaries were obviously heart felt and sincere. Please ensure he is recognised for this and pass on our comments/thanks to him.
I hope we can use your services on another occasion
Kind regards,
Tony"

"I would like to thank you for the fantastic tour to Windjana Gorge and Tunnel Creek. We had a wonderful day and found the tour experience both enjoyable and very informative.
Our guide Glen obviously loves his job and is very involved and makes sure that everyone has the opportunity to get the most out of the day. His knowledge and willingness to pass this on made the whole day much more fulfilling and we are very glad that we took the tour instead of just going ourselves and we saw the gorge and tunnel through different eyes after listening to the background of these places.
We would definitely recommend that people take this tour."
