This is a true escape! Forget the structure of your everyday life - flexibility is the key to experiencing the true nature of Freycinet and the sense of freedom that accompanies a sea kayaking journey. In true expedition style, you will carry all of your equipment and food in your kayak – with your ultimate destination governed by nature’s forces. Ideal for the outdoors traveller this tour is certain not to disappoint with spectacular views of Tasmania's most beautiful coastline.
Day 1:
You will be collected early from your accommodation in Hobart and transfered to Coles Bay, a small coastal town bordering Freycinet National Park on Tasmania’s east coast. This is the perfect location to pack the sea kayaks and learn about the safety and paddling skills that will become second nature in the days to follow. As the group sets off in their kayaks along the Hazards Range, the park’s spectacular scenery will have you hooked within moments of departure.
Day 2 - 3:
Over the next few days you will be taken on a journey to the southern reaches of the Peninsula and the magnificent Schouten Island. You will have plenty of opportunity to explore the pink granite coastline punctuated by the pristine white sand beaches. The coastal wilderness shows little evidence of the whaling, mining and grazing that was once undertaken here.
Each night we set up camp in a beachside location and enjoy fresh meals prepared by your guides in a unique wilderness setting.
Meals include dishes such as:
Pan seared Tasmanian salmon with lemon myrtle risotto,
Braised lamb shanks with rich gravy, mash and seasonal vegetables
Your day is completed with an evening relaxing under the stars in the company of new friends. There are many coastal walks to enjoy, including the opportunity to walk to the world famous Wineglass Bay, voted one of the top ten beaches in the world. If you’re feeling more adventurous and conditions allow, the hikes up Mt. Freycinet or Bear Hill provide rewarding panoramic views.
In addition, there is time to unwind, swim, snorkel and simply soak up the fresh sea air. Rejuvenate with every breath in the temperate maritime climate of the Freycinet Peninsula. Refresh in the clear waters, bask in the sunshine and enjoy the feel of the sea breeze.
Day 4:
The tour returns to Coles Bay by early afternoon by Aqua Taxi. After a shower and freshen up the group transfers back to Hobart arriving early evening. This concludes your Freycinet Adventure. Bid your guides and group a fond farewell proceeding on a peaceful journey home, with memories you will treasure for years.
