Two Day Mitta Mitta Gorge Wilderness and Whitewater Adventure

Our Two Day Mitta Mitta Gorge Wilderness and Whitewater Adventure is the ultimate whitewater rafting adventure! Over two days you will experience 30 kilometres of Whitewater thrills in Crystal clear mountain water in a stunning natural environment. Accommodation and most meals are all provided for your journey in a Historical High Country Pub or private guest house accommodation.

Day One

Our Two Day Mitta Mitta Gorge Wilderness and Whitewater Adventure is Australia’s Classic river journey. We are passionate about our profession and love to offer our clients that little bit extra and after over 30 years paddling the Mitta Mitta we will have you relaxed and enjoying this amazing wilderness environment in no time.

Your introduction to rafting on 10 kilometres of gentle yet challenging whitewater, includes steering your own raft or paddling an inflatable kayak! Whilst tackling numerous challenging rapids which include; “the rapid of truth,” “Pinball” and “Deception bend”.

The Mitta Mitta has carved its path into the valley floor over millions of years. Set in the Alpine National Park and surrounded by an ancient eucalypt forest the river has more recently been the nomadic home of indigenous tribes and the prospectors of the late 19th century.

During the evening you will be able to chill out or party on! Accommodation is provided at either The Blue Duck Inn (a traditional country pub, filled with memories of yester year, an open fire and a veranda overlooking the Cobungra river) or a private country guest house. The relaxed atmosphere, wholesome local food and wine and great Aussie humour are always recipes for nights to remember.

Day 2

The Mitta Mitta Gorge boasts one of the highest ‘put-ins’ in Australia at 680 metres in elevation. This river packs a serious punch. The continuous grade 2-3 rapids make for a wild descent off the Great Divide. Plummeting between intricate rock formations for 18 kilometres will certainly ensure your adrenalin hits overdrive.

You’ll tackle grade 2 and 3 rapids such as Graveyard, the ‘S’ bend, Bump and Grind, Big Stopper, Dislocation, The waterfall, Gobbler and Three plus. These technical rapids require many manoeuvres and are guaranteed to test the skills of the most experienced rafters.

During this trip, Australian history comes to the fore, as you will have the rare opportunity to explore Aboriginal and 19th century miners’ diggings. Afterwards, you can relax and enjoy the grandeur of the steep bare rock gorges which characterise this wilderness area.

Other highlights include a delicious riverside lunch at your private river- side billabong, experienced guides who’s life and passion is the river. At the end of each day you can shower in one of our hot showers that is located at our river base.
