Our 7 day bush and beach ride is targeted to the horse riding enthusiasts who would like to discover the Australian countryside in luxury. Australian Triple Olympian, Alex Watson will be your host. He personally sought out the best horses and trails to develop this destination ride along Queensland's Sunshine Coast and pristine hinterland.
You will canter on a beautiful beach, ride through semi-tropical rainforest trails, and into the wonderful Australian bush to muster cattle. You will be amazed at the scenery and wildlife – kangaroos, koalas, hundreds of native Australian birds including many species of colourful parrots. And, you'll fall in love with the Australian Stock Horse, famous for their ability and temperament.
Day 1 – Sunday
Upon your arrival you will be taken to our horse property in Verrierdale to be introduced to our Australian Stock Horses. The introduction will include a familiarisation session covering some of the horse management and riding techniques we utilise with our horses. Time permitting, it will be followed by a short “getting to know you” ride.
Late Afternoon - Arrive at The Left Bank at Kilkivan where you will be staying for the next two nights. Kilkivan is a small historic township and the site of early gold discoveries in Queensland. A gold-rush in the area finally centred itself around Gympie (today the regional centre for the district) where large gold deposits were extracted. The Left Bank is an historic building being the former Union Bank in Kilkivan. Today it is a multi-award winning bed n breakfast and café/restaurant facility owned and operated by our charming hosts, Bruce and Rae Hurley
Day 2 – Monday
Today’s ride start point on Rossmore Road. Ride the Hanging Rock Trail over the Blacksnake Range from Kilkivan to Widgee Valley and on to our cattle property – “Edenview”. The ride takes in some spectacular views and changing countryside as we follow an old stock route used in the past days of driving cattle from Kilkivan to market in Gympie. Today this trail is one of the series of rides that make up the annual Kilkivan Great Horse Ride held around Easter time.
Day 3 – Tuesday
Transport to Edenview at Widgee where we will be riding out on the property to muster cattle and explore the trails. Today will also be an opportunity to learn a few campdrafting skills and advanced riding techniques if guests are interested.
Transfer to Amamoor Lodge. This beautiful B & B includes Queen-size bedrooms opening onto wide verandas, lounge area with open fireplace and a resort style swimming pool. There is abundant resident wildlife – wallabies, koalas, echidnas, possums and many species of birds.
Day 4 Wednesday
Ride through the Amamoor State Forest. Full of Bunya Pines and amazing vistas. Arrive at the beautiful lookout with 360 degree views to the ocean followed by a picnic lunch on the trail beside the river at Amama Park.
Day 5 Thursday
Ride on the Noosa Trail Network. We ride from the town of Cooran to the town of Pomona through the old growth forest and hills of the Noosa Trail Network. We tie up the horses in the centre of town and have lunch before riding back to Cooran.
Transfer to the RACV Noosa Resort for the final two nights of the tour. The RACV is an award winning 4+ star apartment resort in Noosa. It features a swimming pool with it's own beach, full service spa and tennis courts. The RACV also has it's own restaurant and bar.
Day 6 Friday
Morning ride on the beach at Noosa North Shore. We will spend a couple of hours playing in the surf and sand as we ride towards the Noosa River Mouth along the beautiful Teewah Beach. Depending upon the season we might see dolphins, whales, or turtles along the beach.
The afternoon on Friday is your own personal time to explore the sights and sounds of Noosa. There will be time for shopping, or maybe a hike in the National Park. The resort also has an award winning spa so maybe a massage would be a perfect end to a wonderful week of riding.
Day 7 Saturday
Depending on your flight departure times you may have time to fit in a visit to the Eumundi Markets or the Aussie Zoo.
