Hobart to Strahan (zz) Mount Field National Park is a great way to start the Tassie Devil adventure and you’ll see Russell Falls and take the Tall Trees walk. At Lake St Clair you’ll see Australia’s deepest lake and at Strahan, hike and explore the Franklin Gordon National Park. Stay in private multi-share accommodation in Strahan.
Strahan to Cradle Mountain Region (zz) Learn about Strahan’s history of pining, mining and convicts and enjoy free time with with options galore. Take a stroll or a bike ride (free) along the foreshore or up the Water Tower Hill. Have fun at the Henty Sand Dunes, with an optional quad bike tour (at own expense). The ‘Silver City’ of Zeehan is next; canoe in a nearby lake (at no extra cost). Stay near Cradle Mountain in multi-share accommodation.
Cradle Mountain to Devonport (zz) Discover World Heritage Cradle Mountain National Park. Enjoy the pure air with a guided walk around Dove Lake, or challenge yourself with a more strenuous hike (unguided) to view Cradle Mountain. Stay in private multi-share accommodation at Devonport tonight.
Devonport to Bicheno (zz) See the rolling purple hills of the Bridestowe Estate Lavender Farm (seasonal) then head to the breathtaking Bay of Fires. Have a swim or walk along the gleaming white sands. Bicheno is a charming seaside township and is where we stay tonight. There’s an option to see little penguins nesting (additional cost).
Bicheno to Pt Arthur (zz) Freycinet National Park is a stunner, as is Wineglass Bay. Choose to hike to Wineglass Beach via the lookout or for those more adventurous; a hike to the top of Mount Amos. We’re in convict territory tonight. Take a spine chilling Port Arthur Ghost Tour for a glimpse into the historic past of this penal colony (additional cost).
Pt Arthur to Hobart Further explore the infamous Port Arthur Historic Site and take a boat cruise around the harbour (included). Next, we visit Remarkable Cave and a range of other sites on the Tasman Peninsula
