Motorcycle trip the long way down to Tasmania

Not quite The Long Way Round or Down, but defin inspired from these great shows, 1'm a 27yo female looking to do a motorcycle trip from Sydney/Canberra to Tasmania later this year when it warms up a bit (November/December/January-ish).

I don't have a bike at the mo (looking at a zzr600 or cbr600f - suggestions welcome) but at this stage just looking for like-minded companions that can take a few weeks off work for a little adventure and cruising around.

I am not moto GP material (so hoons need not apply) but I do enjoy the outdoors and would be interested in doing some hiking when in Tas. Also am looking to enjoy the night life too.

I am saving to go overseas mid next year, so this trip would be on a budget. Would be looking to travel with people (male or female) of similar age (20/35s) and mentality (i.e. relatively normal or could get there with some counselling - did I also mention hilariously funny??)

So if you have always wanted to explore Tas on a motorcycle, see the sights and soak up the atmosphere while having fun, get in touch.

Hi Kat, have you had any luck finding some 'relatively normal people' to see the sights of Tassie? I am doing my first bike trip to Tassie from 20 Oct.

Hi Mick,

Actually finding 'relatively normal' people hasn't been the problem, finding a suitable bike has!

I'm looking at doing the trip more in December (when it gets warmer) but let me know how your trip is when you go in Oct. I'd be interested to hear if there are any 'must see' things down there.

Hi Kat, I am a mature guy from Tassie who will be riding to Sydney at the end of Jan 2010 to visit my daughter. I am planning to return from NSW early Feb and pass through Cooma, Tallangatta, Mount Hotham, Bainsdale and Melbourne checking the Great Alpine Way out as I come home. I would be interested in a traveling companion as the trip is looking solo at present but this may be to late a time frame for you. I'm probably normal.
