Japan - The Octopus Story Revisited

About 2 yearsa go, I decided to join a group of school friends for a 1 month tour of Japan followed by a 2 week homestay. The first 2 weeks were incredible - the buildings, the monuments - EVERYTHING.

Until one day, my interests came to food. I ventured into the first sushi shop I found and, without knowing what to order, closed my eyes and pointed to a random item. Needless to say, my choice made the chef laugh, but he agreed and decided to serve me the mystery dish. What came out of the kitchen were many small octopuses and a cutting board, accompanied by a small soy sauce dispenser. Without wanting to hold back on any of the experience, I wrapped the writhing creature onto my chopstick and swallowed, hoping for the best.

Without any prior experience to eating these little monsters, one managed to latch onto my tongue. As I tried swallowing, the little bugger wouldn't let go, and so a 10 minute battle ensued to devour it. Everyone was laughing at me as I desperately tried to force him down - even pull him off my tongue!
