My partner and I "thought it would be nice" to drive from Byron Bay to Airlie Beach on our Christmas break, it was terribly hot and long. It was so hot we were driving from one petrol station to the other buying ice to put on our skin and cold drinks. We were driving up in my old girl which has absolutely no air conditioning and the air coming from the normal vents was scorching! The car ended up overheating in Mackay and I ended up having to replace the motor. Whoooosh - that's the sound of my holiday spending's getting sucked through the mechanics garage of doom. The outcome of this was > a lot of fighting + no money for spendings + stranded at Mackey for 2 nights, while we had a luxery apartment booked at Airlie Beach + a holiday that had be be cut short = next time I'm catching the darn plane!!!
