Several years ago I worked for a special developmental school for children under the age of 15. Each year the staff planned a special getaway for the children, and this particular year we had decided to go down to Melbourne and visit the zoo.

Now this story revolves around 1 young boy in particular...so for the story I will call him Timmy.

Timmy was a 10 year old boy with Autism and at times was extreemly hyperactive.

The morning of the trip Timmy was hypo, running around yelling, throwing anything he could pick up. This continued the whole way to the zoo and most of our day.

The zoo was fantastic, the children absolutley loved it, especially Timmy, he loved it so much that the whole journey home he sat alone, down the back of the bus and didn't say a word all the way home...

Once we got back to school Timmy got straight off the bus and went straight over to his mum begging to go home...

Now this next part of the story, I was told by Timmy's mother, and it is still as shocking now as it was 10 years ago...

Once Timmy got home he went straight upstairs and his mother didn't hear a peep for hours...It wasn't until she started hearing thumping around from the bathroom that she decided to go and investigate...

In the bathroom she had found her 10 year old son Timmy, with a young Penguin...yep....Timmy had taken a Penguin from the Zoo, put it in his back pack and brought it home.

Timmy's mother was in shock, she promptly rang animal rescue who came and took the penguin away, and back to the zoo....

At school when talking to Timmy about this and how, why... he simply stated, because mum won't let me have a dog....
