LAST UPDATED : 16 May 2009 at 20:50:20 Hi everyone.
I will be taking my 4 year old dog on holiday with me in the coming weeks. We will be in the car for approximately 4 hours. Does anyone have any tips for making the journey comfortable and safe for my pet? It really keeps the heat down and protects them from direct sunlight. REPLY | PRINT | EDIT |
Re: Travelling with my DogREPLY POSTED BY : Clint on 26 November 2007 at 18:19:02 I would suggest investing in a dog harness that secures them via the seat belt. It protects them from sudden stops, tight corners or an accident. REPLY | PRINT | EDIT |
Re: Travelling with my DogREPLY POSTED BY : John on 16 May 2009 at 20:50:09 Good harnesses are essential to keep yourself and your pet secure in the car.
An unsecured dog in the car is dangerous, they can react unexpectedly and jump all over you or anything else.
In an accident an unsecured dog is likely to be seriously injured and can injure someone else if they are in their path when thrown around a vehicle.
It's best not to take a chance and always secure your dog when in the car. It is a bit of a pain sometimes but once the dog is used to them, they will happily let you strap them in.
These can be bought on this website:

I use mine mainly to keep my dog from moving around the vehicle and keeping his dog hairs to one area of the car !!
