LAST UPDATED : 28 October 2009 at 16:33:59 Hi
My friend and I are very keen to go to Australia! We have never travelled before so dont have a clue where to start. We would like to stay out for 3 months.
We wont be going until i finish my universtiy course in may, after which I will need some time to save up. Also if anybody can make a rough estimate of how much money we will need I would appreciate it. We want to see and do as much as we possibly can!!

To travel to Australia you will need a passport and a visa. You can get a tourist visa for up to 3 months but you will not be allowed to work on your stay, or a working holiday visa for up to 12 months. See http:www.immi.gov.au for visa information and to apply online for a tourist visa. You also should arrange travel insurance.
I suggest you each allow at least $100/day + flights if possible if you aren't working, although it is certainly possible to manage with a fair bit less.
If you come in June, July or August then that is our winter, the perfect time to visit the tropical north such as Cairns or Broome. If it's later in the year then the south of the country is great.
Have fun :) REPLY | PRINT | EDIT |

I am guessing you have sorted out all the basics and have got your hands on a Lonely Planet book on Oz!
Once you get here you gotta check out W.A. from shark and coral bays down to Augusta stopping in Margaret River and Dunsborough on route. I live in the world famous Margaret River Wine Region. Safe travels and enjoy Oz it's a blast. REPLY | PRINT | EDIT |
