I already have a phone and I'm slightly confused as to which company I should join? A few people in my hostel recommended virgin and isim but i'm not sure?
help please?

Hi, i live in Aus in Cairns FNQ and have used most of the AUS carriers. just changed from Optus to Virgin Prepaid as they are the cheapest and offer advantages when calling or texting others. Also can be used OS.

as wayne said i think virgin are pretty good but i joined with isim a few months ago and i have saved quite a bit on what i usually spend on my phone. they have no flagfall, 15 cent sms and the cheapest call rates around. you should check out their website

I am assuming that you are referring to mobile calls here. If it is, I suggest that you get on the Orange prepaid plan. The rates are by far the cheapest in Australia. Their coverage on their own network may not be the best, however they roam over to the Telstra network. You can get more info on

However, if you are looking for calls made internationally from Australia. The best rates are from prepaid cards. They can be 90% cheaper than normal landline calls. I recommend the Click card and you can buy that as well as others online that provides you with instant PIN delivery from

prepaid is the good one to choose for mobile orange is ok, also can check www.three.com.au you can make video calls, they user vdafone romming if the area is not covered by there. but three is same campany with orange.
For international phone calls do not use Land phone, Buy Prepaid Phone Cards to call from land line, Which is lot cheaper, u can buy it from any news agent or Chinese shop and also check the following page.

there are a lot of prepaid simcard for mobile phone available in here. but i recommend you to use: optus, vodafone or three. thats the most popular in australia.
and for the prepaid calling card to call overseas , i used to buy online and get the pin in my email. Price is much more cheaper than in the shop so i can save a lot.
