We offer clean, spacious dorms and bedrooms where our guests have enough space for themselves and their kit. A great selection of different bedding configuration for every taste and budget is available as well as a comfortable bed for that good sleep, regardless of the time of day.
You can cook that special meal or just a sandwich in our well-equipped kitchen, each of our guests gets their personal plates, cups and cutlery so no one has to share. The dining room is large enough for a banquet of thirty and small enough for that intimate dinner for two.
The XANDERBAR, located in the basement, is the social hub of the hostel where everyone knows your name. Guests chat, play pool, table tennis or darts, drink, dance or just meet and make life long friends.
There are two supermarkets, a post office, two bottle shops, many hotels and bars, night clubs and many restaurants all nearby. The Swan River, the Western Australian cricket grounds are also just seconds away from our front door.

Our hostel consists of 4, 6, and 10-bed (single and mixed sex) dorms as well as doubles, triples, twins, and singles. All beds have linen, blankets and pillows supplied and all rooms are air conditioned.

Location / Directions
1201 East Backpackers is located at 195 Hay Street, between Plain and Bennett Streets. We are directly across the road from the Perth City Hotel and next to the Eastside Cafe and Mantra Hotel.
For flights to the Perth International Airport a privately owned shuttle bus will bring you right to our front door. The prices are very competitive and the shuttle bus departs at hourly intervals.
The privately owned shuttle bus departs from the domestic airport at hourly intervals. The domestic airport also offers a public bus the number 37 that will take you into the CBD and one street from 1201 East Backpackers.
For bus and train travelers the Red Cat (free bus) will take you to within a minute walk from the Hostel. If you get off at the Queen's Gardens bus stop, cross the street and walk towards the Mantra Hotel we are located 10 meters before.
