Narrabri is located 500kms North North West of Sydney which is about a 6 hour drive. Narrabri is also located 560kms South West of Brisbane also being a 6 hour drive. Narrabri is a town with wonderful facilities and opportunities. The Namoi River runs through the centre of town and there are many lovely places to rest on the banks of the river. There is also the Narrabri lake located on the western side of town. Narrabri is situated at the foothills of the Nandewar ranges and is a strong agricultural area.
Some of the most productive and fertile land is located at Narrabri. Main agricultural production is Cotton, Wheat, Sorghum, various Grains, Sheep & Cattle. The rich, black soil of the Namoi River Valley supports a diversity of agricultural activities, but cotton is by far the district's major industry. Cotton, sunflower and a variety of other crops are processed at the Narrabri Cargill Oilseed crushing mill, one of the largest in the country.
Narrabri boasts a wonderful range of tourist attractions such as Mt Kaputar National Park, Sawn Rocks, Waa Gorge, The Australian Cotton Centre, CSIRO Australia Telescope, Yarrie Lake, Lynch's Lane Wines, Seplin Estate Wines, Namoi Valley Aquafarm, Bohena Olives, Antiques & Art, Narrabri Goal and Museum, Craft and much much more.
Narrabri is a country town that doesn't lack much. There is an Airport, two supermarkets, 8 pubs, 3 clubs, a rugby field, squash, tennis and netball courts, 18 hole golf course and well mainted gardens and sporting ovals and much more. The Crossing Theatre recently opened a 1000 seat auditorium & 2 movie Cinemas. Narrabri holds markets on the 1st Saturday of each month. Also, in 2001, Narrabri had the honour of being named "The Sportiest Town in Australia" on The Today Show.
