The administrative centre of Wollondilly is Picton, which is reached, in an easy 90-minute drive from Sydney or by train. Originally known as Stonequarry, the first land grant was to Major Henry Colden Antill. His son built Jarvisfield, which, today, provides the clubhouse for the Antill Park Golf Club.
Picton thrives on it's past with many historic buildings in the town and surrounding areas. Its railway heritage is particularly significant and is symbolised by a unique and splendid railway viaduct. The cement works at Maldon create a fairyland of lights at night. A rural property across from the cement works is the site of the annual motorcross competition round of Thumper Nats.
The Picton Walking Tour brochure highlighting the towns and historic buildings is available from the Wollondilly Visitor Information Centre. Information about Picton's attractions and services is also available from Window Info located in Menangle St.
