There are plenty of shops to choose from in Sydney where you can buy various Australian souvenirs, as well as modern fashion clothing and accessories, music, videos, electrical and much much more. Late night shopping in the city is until 9.00pm on Thursday night.
The main shopping centre is the Pitt Street Mall on Pitt Street, which is home to the Mid City Centre featuring a number of stylish boutiques. You can pick up nearly anything and everything in Sydney. Sydney is fashion heaven for those who like to stay in trend. With mix of luxury labels and cutting-edge local creations, you'll also find plenty of opportunities to revamp your wardrobe in shopping malls and centres.
If you're looking for the perfect holiday souvenir or keepsake try a Ken Done-designed t-shirt or a painting of Sydney harbour life, as well as Weiss Art’s iconic animals and Australian landmarks in The Rocks.
Other large shopping complexes and main shopping areas include Castlereagh Street, Centrepoint a modern shopping centre, Chifley Plaza with a number of well known designer boutiques, King Street, MLC Centre with stylish boutiques, Piccadilly on Pitt Street with a number of popular stores, Queen Victoria Building, Skygarden a diverse and modern shopping arcade, and the Strand with stylish and designer outlets.
There is also a wonderful shopping precinct at Harbourside in Darling Harbour. If you are looking for something rather unique and special then head to Circular Quay and The Rocks where you will find many wonderful boutiques.
More stylish shopping areas include Double Bay, Paddington, with antiques found at Woollahra. Market City in Haymarket, offers some fantastic bargains, along with the diverse shops found in Balmain, Darlinghurst, Glebe and Newtown.
There are also a number of markets at the weekend. The largest is probably Paddy's Market in Market City. The plentiful stalls are open from Thursday to Sunday and are well worth a look.
A tourist market is held on George Street in The Rocks offering a wide range of unique and fantastic gifts. For a more trendy market visit Paddington Village Bazaar held on Saturday in the Church Grounds, Cnr Oxford & Newcombe Streets. Tarpeian is an arts and crafts market held on Sunday next to the Sydney Opera House.
There are also several markets selling general bits'n'bobs. On a Sunday you can go to Fitzroy Gardens, Kings Cross. The Saturday markets can be found at:

If you want some fresh fish visit the Sydney Fish Markets, Cnr Pyrmont Bridge Road & Bank Street (West of Darling Harbour). Starting at 5.30am, Monday - Friday, you can buy fish here or taste it in one of the restaurants.
