Bundaleer Forest Reserve

Natural Attractions, National Parks and Reserves, Parks and Gardens

Bundaleer Forest Reserve - Jamestown, South AustraliaBundaleer Forest was Australia's first plantation forest. Experience its textures, sounds and aromas and enjoy the cool tranquillity of a deciduous forest. It's just 10 kilometres south of Jamestown, and offers delightful scenery and walks.

Walking trails that take in the Bundaleer Forest include the Heysen and Mawson Trails, Conservator's Walk starting at the Arboretum on the Georgetown Road, and the Scenic Walk or Maple Walk, both starting from the Bundaleer picnic ground. See old dry stone walls, a fine panorama of the forest and valley - and look for kangaroos!

The Arboretum on Georgetown Road contains a range of native and exotic tree species. The Conservator's Hut - formerly the exclusive residence of the Conservator of Forests - is on the Conservator's Trail. Picnics can be enjoyed in the picnic grounds all year round, except for days of extreme fire danger.

Attraction Opening Times

Sunrise to sunset everyday: Closed on total fire ban days.

Pet Friendly

Dogs are allowed in the forest, but must be under direct control and kept on a leash at all times.
