Escape the city at Avon Valley National Park where you can go bushwalking, white water rafting, canoeing and picnicking.
This delightful national park is less than an hour's drive from Perth - spend an afternoon here surrounded by nature and you'll feel recharged and relaxed.
The famous Avon River flows through the park and is home to an annual white water rafting event, the Avon Descent. White water rafting and canoe tours operate along the river.
There are barbecue facilities, as well as many shaded picnic spots and riverside walks. It's easy to find a place to yourself by the river to enjoy.
Here jarrah and marri trees mingle with wandoo woodland to create a diverse habitat for plants and animals. More than 90 species of birds are found in the park making it a great place for bird watching. In spring, the park comes to life with wildflowers including native orchids.
There are camp grounds available with barbecues, picnic tables and toilets.
Camping in Western Australia's natural areas is a special experience. Selected campgrounds from across the state are now bookable online for a trial period.
