The Bundaberg Distilling Company (BDC) was born in 1888, when a band of ingenious sugar millers turned a horrendous molasses surplus into fine rum. Located a few hours drive north of Brisbane, the BDC Bondstore hosts over 85,000 visitors each year, and in 2009 was named the fourth most typically Queensland destination and the fourth favourite tourist destination in the Queensland Government's Q150 Icons Survey.
Today thousands of people visit the BDC Bondstore each year with whom they enjoy sharing their legendary story. Discover Bundaberg Rum's rich history and learn how the Australian spirit is made through two great tour options. The BDC Story utilises futuristic technology to bring you a story from the past. Touch panels and interactive visual displays bring over 120 years of crafting rum to life in an experience that is more virtual than virtual reality.
The BDC Distillery Experience starts with the BDC Story, then your guide will lead you to the dark, swirling wells of molasses. Then onto the mysterious processes of fermentation and distillation, around to the grand hall of historic oak vats the size of houses and finally the bottling plant where the bounty awaits transport to the public.
