Travelling the Barkly Highway west from Mount Isa or east from Tennant Creek be sure not to miss a visit to The Barkly Tableland Heritage Centre in Camooweal.
The heritage listed building dates to the 1890s.
It was originally built by Burketown merchants and was the main store in Camooweal.
Now a museum, it contains artefacts and photographs from the early days of settlement.
