Dundas Rocks and Lone Grave

Natural Attractions

Dundas Rocks and Lone Grave - Nullarbor Plain, Western AustraliaA visit to Norseman in the state's southeast presents an opportunity to see the 550 million year old Dundas Rocks, and check out the mystifying Lone Grave.

Take a picturesque bush walk to see the ancient rock formations and the remains of the old ghost town. Look for the plaque showing where the original settlement of Dundas stood, before settling back to enjoy a picnic or barbeque.

Continue along the walk trail to the end of Lake Dundas where the lone grave of a seven month old baby can be found. The grave belongs to Stanley Whitehead who died in 1897.

The timber headstone and guard rails cut out of bush timber stand as the only proof that the site was once inhabited.

When in season you will be able to explore the stunning wildflower display. Discover more of this fascinating region by taking the Dundas Coach Road Heritage Trail which ends at the Lone Grave. Maps of the trail are available from the Norseman Tourist Bureau.
