Overview

The Golden Quest Discovery Trail provides a self drive tour of the West Australian Goldfields. It includes 25 significant sites as you travel through Kalgoorlie, Boulder, Coolgardie and Laverton. Be captivated by the fascinating history and unusual sights along the way. Covering a large distance, you have the option to visit one town, or all of the towns included in the drive trail.

Before commencing the trail, visit one of the town's visitor's centres to purchase a copy of the extensive guidebook including informative CDs and maps, to guide you on your journey.

See the intriguing sight at Lake Ballard where statues rise up from the salt lake. Visit the largest goldmine in Australia and discover the fascinating history of the goldrush in Coolgardie in the late 1800s. Stop for lunch at one of numerous picnic spots along the trail and look out at the magnificent wildlife and stunning wildflowers in season.

Accommodation is plentiful with each town offering a selection of hotels, bed and breakfasts and caravan parks. Commencing in Coolgardie, a six hour drive east of Perth, the Golden Quest Discovery Trail finishes up in Laverton.
