Galleries, Museums and Collections, Historical Sites and Heritage Locations, Landmarks and Buildings
The Calliope Shire Council developed the Historical Village to promote the region of Port Curtis. Calliope's local history museum is right beside the Bruce Highway near the Calliope River crossing.
Country Markets are held on site with stall holders from as far away as the Gold Coast selling their wares. Tours are held seven days a week.
The museum is open daily and the site is visible from the highway and nearby 24 hour driver facilities, making an interesting stop on long trips. Railway facilities include a Queensland Rail coach, two camp wagons and the Yarwun station.
