The new Australian Garden is a place where you can discover the beauty and diversity of Australian flora and landscapes. As of July 2011, visitors can enjoy FREE entry to the Australian Garden.
Winner of the 2006 Qantas Australian Tourism Award for the top 'New Tourism Development', some of the highlights of the Australian Garden include:
- An awe-inspiring Red Sand Garden
- A Rockpool Waterway
- A thematic Eucalypt Walk
- Five Exhibition Gardens, including a Water Saving Garden and a Kids Backyard Garden
- An Escarpment Wall sculpture over 100 metres in length
Tours, activities and programs in the Australian Garden provide a range of informative and exciting experiences for visitors of all ages.
Once you have finished in the Australian Garden, head into the rest of the Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne or visit the Gardens Shop or Boonerwurrung Cafe.
The Woodland Picnic Area is a fantastic space for family, friends and community groups. It has free gas barbecues, picnic tables, a huge children's playground and large open spaces for ball games. It's the perfect place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Entry to the Woodland Picnic Area is free. The Woodland Picnic Area can be accessed from the Australian Garden car park. (by foot 400m walk)
The ten kilometres of walking tracks, abundance of native animals and 360-degree lookout tower make the Gardens an ideal place for natures-lovers to enjoy the Australian bush, only 45 minutes drive from Melbourne.
