Torrington State Recreation Area covering an area of 30 000ha is the largest area of native vegetation remaining on the Northern Tablelands.
The Reserve is recognised as being of State significance for conservation, mining, honey production, recreation and cultural heritage. The area is situated on the Mole Tableland, a rugged granite outcrop with a central sedimentary pendant.
