Bungle Bungle Wanderer Fly/4WD/Walk Combo
The following tour combines your plane flight with a landing for a guided 4WD and walking tour and optional helicopter flight. The Bungle Bungle Range, in the World Heritage Listed Purnululu National Park, is one of the most fascinating geological landmarks in Western Australia. From an aircraft, the Bungle Bungle Range is an imposing sight. The orange and black stripes across the beehive-like mounds, encased in a skin of silica and algae, are clearly visible as we approach from the south.
Depart Kununurra by aeroplane to take you over Lake Kununurra, the Diversion Dam and Ord River Irrigation Area as well as the huge expanse of Lake Argyle, the Ord Dam and Carr Boyd Range. Fly over Lissadell and Texas Downs stations before entering the World Heritage Listed Purnululu National Park. From an aircraft Purnululu is an imposing sight. The orange and black stripes across the beehive-like mounds, encased in a skin of silica and algae, are clearly visible from the air, as is a hidden world of gorges and pools, with fan palms clinging precariously to walls and crevices in the rocks. Experience a remote bush landing at Bellburn airfield, Purnululu, to join a guided ground tour by 4WD to the spectacular domes area.
Enjoy a moderate 3km walk which takes in Picaninny Creek, the beehive shaped sandstone domes and Cathedral Gorge. You are provided with a small backpack to carry your tasty picnic lunch to enjoy in the shade of Cathedral Gorge. After the walk your guide will drive you to the Bungle Bungle Safari Camp for afternoon tea or to the airfield for your helicopter flight.* (Optional helicopter flight. Code W). At 3.45 pm re-board your aeroplane for the return trip over the Osmand Range, with an orbit over the massive Argyle Diamond Mine.
