Full Day Pt Nepean Dolphin Sanctuary Sea Kayak Tour
Explore the beautiful protected southern waters of Port Phillip Bay. The waters are clear and azure and full of marine life. Adventure, Wilderness and Tranquillity...a unique experience awaits you! Pulses accelerate as kayakers face the great ocean from sea level. No machines or fossil fuels, only salt spray, rolling water, sea birds and companions.
Participants start just before Sorrento township and firstly gear up, adjust rudders and listen to a safety talk before jumping on the water. You then get use to your double sea kayaks and develop your paddling skills in the shallows.
You then kayak past historic seaside towns of Sorrento and Portsea with rich maritime and early settlement history. Participants can observe historical mansions along the cliff tops with their outdoor swimming enclosures below.
Sorrento and Portsea are both historical seaside holiday resorts endowed with maritime and early settlement history. You can 'pass back in time' as you paddle along the foreshore, observing historical houses along the cliff tops, outdoor swimming enclosures, the former quarantine station and some historical shipping wrecks.
Point Nepean National Park and the dolphin sanctuary are next. Bottlenose and Common dolphins frequent this area so it's an amazing feeling when dophins appear beside your sea kayak! You may also see sea eagles, pelicans, pacific gulls and cormorants.
Lunch stop is on the beach at Point Nepean Park beside the fascinating former quarantine station. Lunch is gourmet rolls, hot and cold drinks, fruit and biscuits. There is time to have a look around the former quarantine station while taking in amazing views of the "Heads" and Queenscliff.
Then return to start with a break along the way near Pt King to take in a view.
Join us for a day of sea kayaking around Sorrento, Portsea and the Point Nepean National Park!
