2 Day Alice Springs to Uluru Explorer
Be captivated by the highlights of the Red Centre. Witness the striking outback sunset at Uluru and take in marvellous views of Kings Canyon on a rim climb or canyon floor walk. This is great tour for anyone looking for a memorable and unique experience in Australia.
Day 1 Alice Springs – Uluru (Ayers Rock) Base Tour & Sunset
Travelling south you’ll stop to visit a camel farm and learn about the impact camels had in opening up Central Australia. There’s also the opportunity to ride one of these ‘ships of the desert’ (own expense). Later, stop to view Atila (Mt. Conner), often mistaken for Uluru, before arriving at Ayers Rock Resort.
This afternoon join your Driver Guide for a tour around the base of Uluru. Continue to the Kuniya Walk, where you’ll be escorted to the Mutitjulu Waterhole. View ancient rock art and learn about the Aboriginal and European history of the area. Visit the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. Late afternoon, travel to the Uluru sunset viewing area. Witness and photograph the striking colour changes of Uluru at sunset while enjoying nibbles and sparkling wine.
Hotel: Outback Pioneer Hotel (Budget), Desert Gardens Hotel (Standard) or Sails in the Desert Hotel (Superior), Ayers Rock Resort.
Day 2 Uluru (Ayers Rock) – Kings Canyon – Farewell from Alice Springs
Drive through sandhill country towards Kings Canyon, stopping for a breakfast at Kings Creek Station. Climb to the rim of the canyon for marvellous views of Watarrka National Park (for those with a good level of fitness). Continue the 3 hour walk around the canyon with your guide and learn about its geology. Alternatively, enjoy a more leisurely 1.5 hour walk along the boulder-strewn canyon creek bed.
Travel to Alice Springs, where your short break concludes. Have a think about extending your stay to explore the history and culture in and around Alice Springs.
