Full Day Kimberley 4WD Jaliwang Journey
This unique tour is a collaborative partnership by three of the region’s leading tour operators. Offered for the first time in 2018, the Jaliwang Journey is a spectacular small group encounter with the heart and soul of the north-east Kimberley.
Depart Kununurra for a 40 minute light aircraft flight with Kingfisher Tours to begin your journey following the path of the dreamtime Barramundi and hear Ted Hall recount the enchanting story of the Jaliwang.
Enroute we survey the vast Sandalwood plantations at Kingston’s Rest, the awesome Ragged Ranges, and of course the Argyle Diamond’s pit and mine site at Matso Range where the Jaliwang came to rest.
Set down at Mandangala community, enjoy traditional light refreshments at Ood-ulum-bood-ulu (Second Gorge) while hearing Ted speak passionately of his bountiful country and heritage.
Boarding Luridgii Tours 4WD coach continue to tour the Argyle Diamond Mine. Lunch and refreshments are served at the lookout, while Ted gives you more background on the site. Take a close up look at the processing plant and visit the Gallery and mine site Village.
Finally head out to Smoke Creek and the headwaters of Lake Argyle. Enjoy the late afternoon and sunset cruise across the full length of Lake Argyle, while learning of the history of this extraordinary man-made lake. There is an opportunity to swim in the cool clear waters.
