On day 1 of this tour you'll visit the Seal Bay Conservation Park for a magical guided beach walk amongst a colony of rare, wild Australian sea lions. Then it’s on to the wonderful Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park, used as a koala hospital and animal refuge during and after the devastating Kangaroo Island bushfires in December 2019 and January 2020. We’ll have a lovely 2-course pub lunch in the soldier settlement township of Parndana followed by a visit to the incredible Flinders Chase National Park to see Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch, and see the incredible regeneration this vast park area has experienced since the bushfires.
On day 2 you'll be entertained with a visit to the incredible Raptor Domain for their exciting and educational “In-Flight” Birds of Prey display, followed by a stop at South Australia’s only commercial Eucalyptus Oil Distillery, Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery. Here you'll learn all about the oil extraction process and enjoy a 2-course lunch with time to browse their expansive shop and pick up a few souvenirs and gifts. During the afternoon it’s on to Clifford's Honey Farm to sample their range of Ligurian Bee honey and see a working beehive, then a stop at the award-winning Kangaroo Island Spirits, Australia’s first boutique gin distillery, for some gin tasting. This delightful tour ends with a visit to the new False Cape Wines Cellar Door on the beautiful Dudley Peninsula, where you can soak up the views and enjoy a structured tasting of their premium wines.
Day 1 Itinerary:
Take a guided walk on the beach among a colony of rare and wild Australian sea lions with a National Parks Ranger at Seal Bay Conservation Park. Get up close and see these wild creatures frolic and laze about – a truly amazing and unforgettable experience.
Enjoy a delicious 2-course lunch at the Parndana Hotel before visiting the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park to feed some kangaroos and get up close to the Kangaroo Island Koalas while listening to the Keeper talk about the cuddly mammals. There is a photo opportunity to hold a Koala for an additional cost (additional cost•).
Spend the afternoon in the Flinders Chase National Park, which was devastated in the worst fire to ever hit the island in January 2020. You’ll see that the regeneration of the native bush occurs so quickly after the event and there will be many opportunities to take photos. As you travel through the park, keep an eye out for echidnas, wallabies, reptiles, and koalas.
See the rugged coastline from walks around Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch. Remarkable Rocks provide great photographic opportunities, and the Admirals Arch boardwalk takes you down a rugged cliff face to reveal the spectacular rock archway, a natural nursery and safe haven for playful Long-nosed Fur Seals. There is also a possibility to see more kangaroos and wallabies on your way to your chosen overnight accommodation.
