South Australia Fishing Licences and Restrictions

In South Australia recreational fishers using fishing rods or handlines are not required to have a licence and there are few restrictions across the State. Fishers should note, however, that you are not permitted to sell anything you catch in SA waters.

Each fisher in SA may use 2 fishing rods or 2 handlines or one of each when fishing in the State. The lines may have up to 3 hooks or up to 5 hooks threaded together (joined eye to shank).

It is the fisher's responsibility to be aware of the current regulations regarding out-of-bounds fishing areas, closed seasons, bag limits, minimum/maximum fish sizes etc. For current regulations consult the SA fisheries.
