I have travelled up and down the east coast of Australia during my 10months I have been in Australia. On our first trip up the coast we visited Byron, Surfers, Brisbane, Mooloolaba, Noosa, Fraser, whitsundays and Cairns. Mooloolaba was by far the best fun I had on the trip. I stayed at Mooloolaba beach backpackers which is right next to the beach. The guests and staff are all so much fun and there's always something to do during the day. The hostel offers free surf boards/ kayaks/ bicycles and free stand up paddle board lessons every morning. There are activities every night, backpacker style (best night is goon pong on a thursday). Free BBQ on a saturday ad fre breakfast every morning..... backpackers dream seeing as money was such a big issue. I miss that place so much. I was only suppose to stay three days but ended up staying 4weeks, I didnt want to leave. Enjoy your trip whenever you end up visiting, anything you need to know about the east coast I would be happy to try help you out.
