Planning for the big trip around OZ!

Hi,we are thinking of going around OZ in Jan 2012! We would love to hear back from some families travelling who are working around, what sort of budget you have, do we home school or do distance ed? We have 5 kids 8,7,5,3 & 4weeks. We will be travelling around with a 4wd and jayco expanda. Any tips would be a help! Cheers

Hi, we're also looking to head off for at least 12 months with our 2 year old son. We're looking to sell the house but will also probably work as we go. What are you looking into in terms of an internet business, as this seems like a great (relaxing) way to do it. we were also thinking more along the line of a bus rather than caravan. Love to hear your thoughts. Thanks in Advance.

We did the big trip last year and after looking into the schooling side of things it really depends on how long you are planning on going, the WA distance ed will only let you sign up if it is for longer than 6 months, as we only went for 6 months we didnt bother and we simply got some work from our daughters current school. It might be worth contacting distance ed in your state to get more info on it as I am sure they will vary from state to state. Same goes for home schooling as there are some rules and regulations involved with that option also. Hope this helps, if you have any other queries feel free to email me.

We are going to do the big trek around Australia too this year, starting in about July. We have three kids 3, 5 and 7 and I have all the same questions. We are looking to buy the same caravan and what type of 4x4 do you have? We were thinking about a Toyoya. I've been looking into internet based businesses so we do not have to find jobs on the way around.
