Warning to dog owners 1080 baiting
All dog owners, once and only warning, please pass onto anyone travelling.
Dogs are our pets and a beloved family member, but when travelling along the Eyre highway and rural and remote areas of WA and within perth city limits etc, please be aware, 1080 wild dog and fox baiting is used. Baits can be found anywhere especially just off the side of the road, truck parking bays and anywhere they are dropped, best thing to do is keep your dog on a leash, keep them close by and make sure they dont lick or eat anything off the ground. best to walk them round the road houses and if you feel the need to let your dog off for a run, spend a few dollars usually round 30-40 dollar mark in buying a dog bait muzzle which they are unable to lick or injest any bait/s found.
There is no fixing the pooch once it takes a bait, it is a gruesome death and it is something no owner should go through, So take care enjoy your holiday with your dog and remember to also protect them, safest way is a bait muzzle, then they can have a run and smell round. Speak to locals or the shires about 1080 baits where you are holidaying so you know where they may have been place, dont be complacent. And to answer how i know about this, i live on the Eyre Highway... And i am a dog owner...
