Tourist drives

Hi, I'm assuming everyone is familiar with the brown "tourist drive" signs that will show up in scenic areas, often brown, numbered shields (at least all of them are in Queensland). My question: does anyone know of a site or organisation that collects or maintains these routes? I'd like to see them on a map (or put them on a map with a GIS if there's only technical data). I figured someone must oversee and maintain them, as they are all uniquely numbered (at least within a state) and the signs look pretty uniform. But I was unable to find a list or map online. I also know RACQ maintains some tourist drive descriptions on their website, but they don't seem to correspond with these 'brown' routes. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but . . .

How did kangaroo get the name kangaroo?

How did kangaroo get the name kangaroo? Apparently the first English speaking people asked the Aboriginals what the kangaroo was called. They answered kangaroo but I heard that that meant what are you on about. Is this true? has anyone else heard of this? . . .
