Gloucester

Nestled at the base of the unusual chain of hills named 'The Bucketts' Gloucester lies in a sheltered valley and is an excellent respite to the Barrington Tops. A short inland trip through beautiful countryside from Taree on the mid-north coast of NSW, the town itself centres around an old-style main street. Use Gloucester as a base to experience the Barrington Tops and enjoy four-wheel driving or horse riding.

The township of Gloucester was first established in 1855, mainly for sheep farming; however it became noticeable that the land was not entirely suitable. The four main industries of the Gloucester area are: tourism, timber, cattle farming and, now, coal.
