Kingscote is the main town on Kangaroo Island where you will find a couple of the major banks and car hire companies.
There are numerous hotels, hostels and campgrounds around town where you can stay whilst on the island. There are also a number of good cafes and restaurants in the town centre where you can get a bite to eat. If you want to go for a swim the best place would be at the Tidal Pool near the jetty, although you can also head to Emu Bay which is a short drive away.
There is a good museum in Hope Cottage, which tells the history of the area. You can also visit Island Pure, which is a sheep dairy and cheese factory as well as the last remaining eucalyptus oil distillery in South Australia.
If you love animals then you can also watch the pelican feeding or join the Discovering Penguins Walk, both being great fun.
