Mount Buller is a town and slope in Victoria, Australia, it is the most accessible alpine resort in Australia, and offers the perfect summer escape for a range of tastes and interests.

Mount Buller, an easy 3 hour drive from Melbourne, it is Victoria's most spectacular alpine terrain. Mount Buller's stunning lansdcape incorporates 180ha of ski trails, the longest being 2.5km, with an average snowfall of 1.5m.

The mountain was named in 1835 by Thomas Mitchell after an official in the colonial office. The first Europeans to visit the area on a regular basis were the cowherds who drove the graziers' cattle up from the valleys to the high plains in the summertime.

Mount Buller LandscapeYou can have a peaceful picnic on the summit or feel the thrill of motor biking, four-wheel driving and mountain biking.  Spectacular views combine with clean alpine air and a cool summer climate to provide the perfect setting to relax and recharge.

Mount Buller SnowboardingThe Ski Resort includes 25 ski lifts which have the capability of moving 40,000 people per hour. However, the maximum number of people allowed on the resort is just 10,000 even in peak periods so there won't be any delays in catching a ski lift. The Ski season opens in early June and closes in late September as the resort begins to adopt beautiful Springmantle.

Mountain Biking at Mount BullerThere are a wide range of activites available for your recreation at Mount Buller. Other than the obvious, skiing and snowboarding, you can walk or hike up the mountain and admire the idyllic surrounds. Mountain biking, downhill and cross country, is popular at Mount Buller as is four wheel driving. The resort offers scenic chairlift rides where you can observe the magnificent Mount Buller landscape. And for those who are more daring there is rock climbing and abseiling on offer.

Mount Buller VillageFor those people with relaxation in mind there is an Alpine spa retreat that caters for all your beauty desires. The Latrobe Sports Centre offers a gymnasium, netball, basketball, badminton and volleyball. There are also swimming, tennis and outdoor chess facilities at the resort. You can catch recent release movies at the Mount Buller cinema, the highest cinema in Australia, on Tuesday and Saturday nights at 8:00pm.

Mount Buller ViewThere is a huge assortment of accomodation at the resort, ranging from hotels and lodges to bed and breakfasts. There are approximately 7000 beds available at the various Mount Buller accommodation facilities. There are also a number of great restaurants at the resort, some of which allow group bookings and are open till late.

Mount Buller has summer events and festivals which cater to all ages and tastes. In December, there is Music on the Mountains where you will be serenaded by various artists including a quartet from the Melbourne Conservatory. During January you can enjoy performances from the Chamber Music Summer School. Also in January, is the Porsche Mt Buller Sprint, where some of Australia's most renowned names in motor racing compete.

In February and March there is both the Mountain Bike Australia National Series, incorporating some of Australia's most challenging trails, and the Holden High Country Cycle Challenge which is expected to draw well over 1000 competitors. Mid-March there is the AROC Adventure Race Weekend, an enjoyable multi-sport race around Mount Buller and the surrounding region.
