Mount Buller is a town and slope in Victoria, Australia, it is the most accessible alpine resort in Australia, and offers the perfect summer escape for a range of tastes and interests.
Mount Buller, an easy 3 hour drive from Melbourne, it is Victoria's most spectacular alpine terrain. Mount Buller's stunning lansdcape incorporates 180ha of ski trails, the longest being 2.5km, with an average snowfall of 1.5m.
The mountain was named in 1835 by Thomas Mitchell after an official in the colonial office. The first Europeans to visit the area on a regular basis were the cowherds who drove the graziers' cattle up from the valleys to the high plains in the summertime.
You can have a peaceful picnic on the summit or feel the thrill of motor biking, four-wheel driving and mountain biking. Spectacular views combine with clean alpine air and a cool summer climate to provide the perfect setting to relax and recharge.
The Ski Resort includes 25 ski lifts which have the capability of moving 40,000 people per hour. However, the maximum number of people allowed on the resort is just 10,000 even in peak periods so there won't be any delays in catching a ski lift.
