A quiet little town with a wonderful beach for water sports, Patonga is an Aboriginal word meaning oyster.
It is thought that Patonga Creek was named by Governor Phillip during his voyage of exploration to Broken Bay in 1789 because of the oysters they found there. Attractions include craft shops, surfing beach, tennis, scenic cruises and a peaceful ocean inlet.
