Rutherglen

Rutherglen is an old mining town, whose main attraction now is its fabulous wines. It is worth a visit to the Information Centre, which is inside the interesting Jolimont Wines Complex. Another interesting place to visit is the Rutherglen Historical Society Museum, where you can find out about the history of the area.

Rutherglen is also a major festival centre in Victoria, with several different festivals held each year. Tastes of Rutherglen is held in March, the Winery Walkabout is held in June, the Tour de Muscat is held in early November, and the Winemakers' Legends Weekend is held in mid-November. Although there are a number of places to stay around town, during the festival times accommodation tends to get booked out.
