The Diesel Driver Experience offers you the opportunity to drive a diesel locomotive. You need no previous railway knowledge or experience, just an appreciation for the sights and sounds of a diesel locomotive. Enjoy a pleasurable day, learning the basics of driving a diesel locomotive.
During the Diesel Driver Experience you will drive a Y Class Diesel Electric Locomotive.
Tour Highlights:
The course day starts at 9:30am and finishes at approximately 5:00pm.
First up familiarization and locomotive preparation.
Review & discuss training notes.
You receive instruction to enable you to safely operate the train
You will undertake shunting of your train in Maldon Yard.
You will drive the Y Class Locomotive train on one return trip between Maldon and Castlemaine.
Lunch will be provided for you as part of the Experience.
By late afternoon you will have received your Certificate of Achievement.
As a bonus, you will also receive One Year's Membership of the Castlemaine & Maldon Railway Preservation Society.
