Pelaw Main

Pelaw Main is located just south of Kurri Kurri. The main attraction of Pelaw Main is Richmond Vale Railway Museum, a volunteer non-profit organisation, formed in 1979 with the aim of preserving the Railway and Mining Heritage of J & A Brown and the Hunter Valley.

The history of the Richmond Vale Railway goes back to 1857 when the first section was opened from Hexham, on the banks of the Hunter River, to Minmi near the Sugarloaf Range, a distance of five and a half miles. The R.V.R.M. runs trains on the first three Sundays of each month from 10.00am - 5.00pm. Steam is the main power but can be substituted, (total fire ban days or mechanical defects etc) without notice with diesels.
