After 4 days in Ireland, we headed for Dublin Ferry Terminal ready for our pre booked ferry to HollyHead in Wales. Despite the ferry company having all our contact details nobody contacted us and we were not aware until we arrived at the Ferry Terminal that all the ferries were on strike. We had already booked and paid for rental vehicle and accommodation in North Wales but realised our only option was to get a flight to Cardiff in South Wales. We arrive at Dublin airport and after many phone calls we managed to get seats on a flight leaving in 4 hours. After having lunch in the aiport we went and waited in the departure lounge only to discover 5 minutes before boarding time that the flight had been cancelled. We were now booked onto a flight in another 3 hours time however this flight was grounded due to blizzard in Cardiff. By 9pm everything in the airport was closed and only those passengers waiting for this flight were left. The only food available was a soft drink machine and a chocolate dispenser. We finally departed at 1:30am at which stage we were on a first name basis with most of the other 30 odd passengers. We arrived in Cardiff at 2:30am after a very rough flight and rougher landing. We also decided that we never wanted to see the inside of Dublin airport again.
