I can't see the photo very clearly and I am not familiar with the sign either, but it looks quite similar to the bathroom signs that you can sometimes see in Europe. I would like to know the answer to the riddle too.

Hello...
I believe this is a culturally sensitive sign, indicating where you can locate a toilet which is not 'Aussie' but which you can stand over a toilet set into the floor. In some countries, sitting your bare bum on a toilet seat is considered rather disgusting. They stand over a hole which is considered much more hygienic.

We have similar signs in victoria informing tourists not to stand on the toilet seat (which was a problem caused by this custom...dirty footprints and mud on the toilet seats cos they didn't want to sit on them!).

A lot of newer tourist venues now have the floor-style toilets as an option. I believe the visitor centre at the 12 apostles has one...if i remember correctly.

Cheers, Jaclyn.
