My friend and I were on a bus from Eilat to Jerusalem in Israel. She (predictably) fell asleep and I was engrossed in a book. I looked up, but the other backpackers were still on the bus, so I went back to reading. I looked up again and we were the only ones left - and the bus driver was leaving the bus!
It wasn't until he walked down the road and disappeared into a building that we realised we were parked outside his house!
We did what all true Aussie travellers would do - took some photos / videos, sat in the driver's seat and had agood laugh. Then found we couldn't open the door. We banged on the window and tried to get the attention of locals who were waiting for a bus on the other side of the road, but they ignored us, looking at us like we were crazy. We tried all the buttons, including the red button, but they did nothing.
So, I had no choice - I opened the driver's side window, climbed out and went to fetch the bus driver. What an introduction to one of the world's most fascinating cities!
