Lost with Scots!

A friend and I were in Edinburgh at the height of the Da Vinci Code phenomenon. I had read the book and was aware that the Rosslyn Chapel was an hour or so by bus from the town centre and decided to use our last Sunday in town to visit.
We waited at the bus stop and jumped on a fully loaded bus to head to Rosslyn Chapel. As we drove past signs indicating the turn off, we started to worry that the bus wasn't going to the right place. As the signs slowly dissapeared, we decided to ask the bus driver if we were on the right route.

His thick Scottish drawl explained that the Sunday bus route bypassed Rosslyn Chapel. He then made an announcement to the entire public bus load of people to ask if anyone would mind him taking us to our destination before hopping off the route.

One old lady put her hand up and was shooshed by other passengers, so our large bus was turned around and drove us the required 30 minutes to Rosslyn.
Not one passenger complained and my friend and I were so embarrassed that about 30 people had been taken out of their way for us, but as we hopped off and asked the driver if we could give him anything in return for the favour - all he said was "Do the same for someone else one day ...."
